History of Groppetti Auto | Visalia, CA

History of Groppetti Auto

Groppetti Auto has been a part of the Visalia and surrounding communities for nearly 25 years. Our history dates back to March of 1994, when Don and Shelly Groppetti bought Bookout Nissan and moved their family from Santa Maria. A year later, Bookout Nissan relocated and was officially renamed Nissan of Visalia.

That was just the beginning for the Groppetti family—and what would soon be their family of dealerships. Throughout the late 90s, Don and Shelly purchased multiple dealerships that sold a variety of makes, including Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Honda, Dodge, and Toyota.

The new millennium brought continued success to the Groppetti Auto family of dealerships. In 2005, Don and Shelly added Razzari Ford into the mix, and a year later, Serpa Hyundai became part of the Groppetti family.

Throughout the 2000s, the auto group moved several locations and faced the tough economic recession. Even so, Don and Shelly persevered and even went on to establish the G for Kids Foundation in 2009 to fund youth organizations in Tulare County.

The year 2010 brought new opportunities to the Groppetti family when Don took over ownership of several local FM stations, turning Westcoast Broadcasting into Momentum Broadcasting. In the last decade, Don and Shelly have added more stations to their group. The Groppettis still made dealerships their focus, adding two Nissan dealerships to their family just last year.

Over the last 25 years, Groppetti Auto has prioritized supporting organizations throughout the community. Organizations that the dealer group has supported include the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Read for Life, Court Appointed Special Advisors for Children, the YMCA, and Happy Trails Riding Academy.

The Groppetti Auto group is driven by four core values (or “the drive”) that the owners credit with their success over its long history: discipline, courage, passion, and confidence.
